Custom order policy
Deposits, timings, and what happens if plans change. Worth two minutes now to avoid an awkward conversation later.
Lead time
Custom orders need at least 14 days' notice. I know that feels like a lot, but everything is made by one person around existing orders, and a rushed job is a worse job.
Deposits
A 50% deposit holds your date. Until deposit is paid, the date is still open to anyone else who asks.
Paying the balance
For orders over $250, the remaining balance is due 1 week before delivery. For orders under $250, the remaining balance is due 72 hours before pick up.
Changes
Need to change something about your order? Reach out as soon as you can — the earlier I know, the more I can usually still do.
If you need to cancel
Because custom bakery orders require advance planning, purchasing of ingredients and supplies, scheduling, preparation, and reserved production time, cancellations may result in the loss of some or all payments made. The 50% deposit is non-refundable once the order has been confirmed, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. If a customer cancels an order after specialty ingredients, supplies, decorations, or other materials specifically for that order have already been purchased, the customer may be responsible for those costs in addition to the non-refundable deposit. A cancellation can be submitted with a full refund of the deposit only within the first 24 hours of placing the order. Cancellations must be submitted directly to info@booksbakery.com in writing. A cancellation is not considered received until the bakery acknowledges receipt.
If I have to cancel
If I ever have to cancel on you, I'll let you know right away and refund whatever you've already paid in full.
Pickup and collection
I'll confirm your pickup window when your order's ready, and we'll sort out a plan together if the original time stops working for you.
