What we're aiming for

The target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA, built in from the start rather than bolted on afterwards.

What that means in practice

• Text meets contrast minimums against its background.
• Everything works by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
• Real headings, labelled form fields, and alt text on images that carry meaning.
• The menu is in the page as a plain list, so it works with a screen reader whether or not the page-turning book renders.
• Animation respects your system’s reduce-motion setting.
• Usable at 200% zoom and down to 320px wide without sideways scrolling.
